Washington Youth Tour
The WYT goes well beyond being just a top-notch tour of our nation’s capital. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience America’s government and history up close. Ms. Dillon joined over 1,000 other tour recipients as they met with state and national leaders, underwent leadership training and made new friends, as well as visited all the major sights. Ms. Dillon is a junior at Chattahoochee County High School in Cusseta, Georgia. She is the daughter of Sumter EMC members Matt and Linda Dillon. She has a sister, Julie, and a brother, Daniel. Ms. Dillon’s academic achievements routinely place her on the school’s Honor Roll and Principal’s List. She is a member of the National Honor Society and has been named to Who’s Who Among American High School students. Her favorite subject is math. She competes on the school’s math team and placed first in a competition in January at St. Andrew College. Her hobby is writing poetry. Ms. Dillon’s future plans include college and learning to pilot an airplane. The Washington Youth Tour is held in June each year. Sumter EMC sponsors one student per year and rotates the sponsorship among the high schools in our service area. For more information on this leadership program, call Sumter EMC at (800) 342-6978 or visit Georgia EMC’s website at www.georgiaemc.com. To read Ms. Dillon's account of her trip, click here. |
